This past weekend at the World Finals was an emotional weekend for Tom Meents, his family and fans as the 14 Time World Champions’ legacy and career was celebrated across the whole weekend.
Tom Meents’ 38 year long career driving Mud Racers and Monster Trucks has seemingly come to an end today as per his Facebook page, it seems the 14 Time World Champion will be hanging his helmet up for the final time.
The post reads as follows:
“Thanks To Every Single Family Member, Friend, And Fan that made this incredible Ride The Best ! I have absolutely no regrets every single time I hit the track I gave it all I had to The Max for over 38 years !!!”
Tom Meents’ 2024 season started off fantastic. Fans were more then excited to see Tom Meents’ retirement tour, and all the new bodies that would be returning. First we saw a Split Max-D 20th and original Max-D, then Maximum Destruction, then the Black Max-D, but it all came to an abrupt halt in Indianapolis Show 2, where Meents suffered a seemingly career ending crash. Meents himself had stated he had suffered a dislocated neck during the crash. This resulted in Meents being pulled from his retirement tour due to his injuries, and instead had drivers like Colton Eichelberger, Blake Granger and Coty Saucier share driving duties throughout the rest of the season.

Many fans were of course extremely disappointed however were more concerned for and wishing for good health for Tom Meents. It was an honour to meet him twice over the weekend, 6 years after seeing him burn it down in Sydney, Australia in 2018.

Speaking of the Pit Party, it was unveiled to the world and Tom Meents that Jamey Garner along with former Max-D crew chief Mark Cole had restored the original Shake Me mud racer- and the reaction was impalpable. Fans were tearing up (myself included), and I couldn’t even begin to imagine how it felt for Tom to see his car that helped catapult his motorsports career.

Then on at the Awards Ceremony, Meents was celebrated and awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award that had the entire crowd of fans and drivers inside the Novo at LA Live on their feet congratulating and cheering him.
To talk about the things this man has done over the course of his 38 year long career is a subject matter for a video detailing his long and prosperous career. We’ve also made one back in 2022 talking about his career, but with his announcement of his official retirement, we will definitely be revisiting that topic on our channel later this year.
We would like to congratulate Tom Meents on his legendary and iconic career in motorsports, and thank him for everything he’s done for the sport and the fans. His impact on all our childhoods cannot be measured.
