With the World Finals just DAYS away, I figured the Co-Hosts of Bonus Time would take the time to predict who will become champions, and be placed into the history books. Let’s start off with my own-
For Last Chance Qualifier, I’m gonna have to go with David Olfert. While I would like to pick a driver like Joe Foley or Chris Koehler, someone who should’ve been in the Main Field to begin with, it is essentially a time trial/racing competition, and with all do respect to both drivers, I don’t see either of Team Scream’s drivers taking the win. David Olfert however, is someone who not only deserves a shot on the big stage, but has the ability to put himself into the conversation. He took home his very first Stadium Racing win in Birmingham earlier this year, and has consistently finished well in Stadium Racing competitions. So, my pick for the last chance qualifier, and joining his Team Throttle team-mate, will be David Olfert in Velociraptor.
For Skills, I’m going to give it to Team Grave Digger once again, and with this prediction we would be crowning a brand new champion. I am predicting that Weston Anderson will be taking home the gold in the Skills Championship. Sure, I could be boring and predict Tyler Menninga… but its fun to spice up those predictions of mine. Weston is equally as talented as Menninga, and given that track conditions won’t play a factor in the championship, Weston has a perfect shot at winning the championship.
For High Jump, it’s anyone’s game, but if I had to narrow it down to just one, I’m gonna go with Bryce Kenny. Kenny placed third in his first ever High Jump championship, and with the absolutely outrageous leap in Atlanta, I hope to see that live inside Sofi Stadium. However, with drivers seemingly learning what I’ve nicknamed “The Strat” (drivers using throttle and the brakes to position the truck for more altitude), it will make competition just as exciting as last year.
For Racing, I got to stick with my gut. There’s so many drivers I’d like to see racing. Cory Rummell, Coty Saucier, and Bari Musawwir all come to mind. However, I think its time Camden Murphy gets justice for last year. For those that may not remember, Camden Murphy was just a lap away from taking home his first ever World Championship, however due to mechanical issues- at the absolute worst time by the way, Tristan England was able to capitlize on Murphy’s misfortune and win his first ever championship. So, I’m locking it in, Camden Murphy is going to be crowned your new Racing Champion.
Finally, for Freestyle, again there’s so many drivers to choose from. However, other then maybe Weston Anderson, Bari Musawwir and Zack Garner or Dalton Widner, there is no driver I want to win a championship more then Blake Granger. Team Max-D has had a rough year since Meents got injured, and its safe to say Blake Granger has carried the team throughout the year. Blake Granger always throws down, and with his first main field invitation at the World Finals, Granger will get a shot to show what he’s made of in what could very well be one of the last time’s we see Max-D. With that being said, Blake Granger will be your new Freestyle Champion.
It’s time to hand over the predictions to fellow Bonus Time Co-Host, Ewan Ford.
Hello there, Ewan here with my Predictions for Monster Jam World Finals 23. Starting with the Last Chance Qualifier, I believe that Chad Tingler in Over Bored is going to take the win. Chad has been to the World Finals before and I think he would want to get there again. He is a former team Grave Digger driver and is a great driver all around. He is a solid racer and has been consistent all season on Arena Tour East.
For the Two-Wheel Skills Challenge, I am also predicting a team Grave Digger driver but I am going with Tyler Menninga, who will be defending his Skills Championship. He has been on an absolute tear this season in the skills competition, making me and many others believe that he can do virtually anything in a Monster Truck. He has been consistent in all competitions to be honest, but especially in Two-Wheels Skills, he has shined. He is going to be the Two-Wheels Skills Challenge Champion at Monster Jam World Finals 23, and defend his World Championship.
I know I am going for the obvious pick for the High Jump Competition. However, I believe that Ryan Anderson is going to take his third consecutive High Jump Championship. He was the one who innovated the competition from just pointing, shooting and praying you get the highest jump, to who can bring the back wheels up higher using a brake tap to control the truck, or as Jackson put it, “The Strat”. With this, I think he will defend his High Jump Championship.
For the Monster Jam World Finals Racing Championship in Inglewood, I believe that Tristan England will go back-to-back. He will win his second racing championship at Sofi Stadium in the JCB Digatron. The reason is that he has been the only one to challenge Tyler consistently throughout the season in all competitions but especially in racing. He has 6 racing wins on the season and I believe with him going into World Finals 23 as the defending champion he will defend his Racing Championship.
Now, to the main event of World Finals 23. The Freestyle Championship will be won by Camden Murphy in Bakugan Dragonoid. Camden has been a consistent freestyle throughout the season and I believe it is his time to win it big in California. Let’s not forget, he had one of the craziest freestyles of all time in my hometown in Arlington earlier this year. And you saw the state that truck was left in… can you imagine what he will do to that truck in Inglewood. Even if he has to retire the chassis or fold another front axle in half, I believe that Murphy will win the big one in Inglewood and come away as the Freestyle Champion at Monster Jam World Finals 23.
