Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced earlier today at the D23 Expo that he has partnered up with Disney to create a Monster Jam Movie. Not a whole lot is known, however we already have some key details which we are going to go into detail below:

The movie will star The Rock as the lead role in the film, with it being described as an “immersive, fun live-action experience”. It will follow the perspective of the drivers as they compete on the Monster Jam circuit. A release date, or any other details about the film is yet to be announced.

This announcement has created a TON of buzz across the internet, as it has people talking about it despite no trailer or really any significant details being released. There’s no doubt then that this is arguably a HUGE boost for Monster Jam being brought to more eyes. This mainstream popularity is what the sport needs right now, to grow and get better and better. If done right, this movie could be a crushing success and appeal to both new fans who may have never heard about Monster Trucks or Monster Jam, and diehard fans who get to see their beloved sport showcased on the silver screen.
