Last weekend, Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live hosted arguably their biggest event since Paris earlier this year. It has turned alot of heads, and gives us a glimpse into the future of the tour and what direction it seems to be heading in.

On June 29th & 30th, the Tacoma Dome hosted Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live for the first time ever, with a mind-boggling lineup of 14 trucks! A record for the tour, with an even bigger lineup then Paris. However, instead of 14 separate identities, there were 7 pairs of the same identity. So there were two Bigfoots, two Gunksters, two Five Alarms, etc. While this is strange, the format of the event not only was much different to that of the regular shows, but gives reason for having two of each truck.
The track is another major talking point, because unlike Paris, which had the first and so far only Hot Wheels show with a dirt track, Tacoma had a concrete floor with elongated car stacks and two extra stacks to make up for the large floor, but even then, most of the track was just concrete. The track was divided into two sides with two jumps in the middle of the floor. Each name would perform in tandem with each other for all competitions, and would only be allowed on their given side. This team based format is really unique however only slightly more interesting then a regular event.

Reportedly, this was seen as a test for the potential format for when HWMTL eventually starts making their way into stadiums. While it was a little lacklustre for older fans, it seems that if successful with their target market (younger children ages 5-6), then this may be the format used for possible HWMTL stadium events.
We will be covering this story in more detail as well as the Rise of Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live in an upcoming video on our channel, which you all have been patiently been waiting for. Don’t worry- it’s coming!
